Simply Delicious

Simply Delicious, Vancouver, British Columbia

When I first looked at the menu, I did a double take. "Is this the happy hour menu?", I asked across the table. It was not. The prices are not just reasonable, they're down right CHEAP. Simply Delicious offers a variety of Japanese cuisine - sushi, sashimi, noodles, donburi (rice bowl), robata (BBQ)- as well as phó (Vietnamese noodle soup). Prices start at $1.50 for two pieces of BBQ salmon belly, $2 for chicken karaage or a selection of rolls. Donburi is priced at $4 for chicken, pork or beef. Japanese food is inexpensive in Vancouver, but this is simply ridiculous. The cooked food is tasty, the rolls are great, the sashimi is fresh (great presentation too!). Try the Vietnamese coffee. I liked mine iced. Be prepared to wait if it's busy so go with friends for some company. Simply Delicious is located on the second floor of 4316 Main Street. They are open from 11am - 11pm daily. Go. Eat lots. Save some money! There is metered parking on Main Street or several free parking spots behind the restaurant. The dinner bill for a party of four came to $50 (without liquor...which is inexpensive too, in case you were wondering. They serve a variety of Japanese & domestic beers, sake & wine.)!

South of the border? I was recently at Umi Sake House in Seattle & received great service & such delicious food that I can't wait to go back! They have fabulous unique rolls & a wide variety of sake. Try it! Their menu is online.
